My, aren't those Democrats clever!

They ran two bills which they substituted just tonight. The first one was 5194, the income tax bill, the second was 5198, the service tax bill. They needed to get these bills out of the House so they could sit for five days before going to the Senate.

We had no time to read the new language, but as near as we could tell, they were just "shell" bills. Both bills made no changes to tax rates, but did give tax exemptions to disabled veterans.

I guess we can say they used a very cheap political trick, on the backs of our disabled veterans to get us to "vote for taxes". It worked to a point, they did get enough votes to pass the bills. The second bill received no votes of support from the Republicans. We wised up pretty quickly.

Watch for this headline: "Republicans vote against disabled veterans."

That's it. We adjourned for the night.

Yeah, the same way you voted against government cuts and reforms.

The real story out of last night was Granholm and Schauer refusing a compromise out of the Senate Majority Leader's office as they angle for a government shutdown!

Nice to know they care.
