They gave up for now.

Cleared the board and delayed the vote until later. Now we are voting on SB418, MESSA reform. All you really need to know about this bill is it allows school districts to request bids on health insurance for their employees from competitors. It mandates MESSA, the third party carrier for insurance for most school districts to open their claims data so competitors can quote.

The MEA is dead set against this bill because it would mean a huge potential loss of revenue. The Dems almost all voted NO and then walked off the House floor. They are now hiding in their caucus room.

You will vote yes on MESA reform right? Steward Sandstrom

The reality of all of this is that a Tax increase, in any form, cannot pass without Republican support. As painful as it would be, I would rather have the state government shut down instead of the legislature passing a Tax increase. This government has to learn to live within it's means, just like the rest of us.

To you Republicans that will vote for a Tax increase, you have been warned. The recall man is standing at the ready...

If it doesn't involve raising taxes the democrats are not interested in it. Besides they might lose some political donations if they vote against the union.

How about the Republicans travel across the aisle and lobby for intelligent and fiscally responsible government reforms and cuts? Now there's something I'd prefer to see.

Hi Jack, Wish I had found your blog at midnight when I was trying to find an update. Keep up the good work (and take a short nap while the Demos caucus ro whatever they're doing now). Mary Dechow
