Second try at sales tax increase fails

Today, the House put the 1 point increase in the sales tax up for a vote on the board. (This increase from 6% to 7% represents a 16% increase in the rate.) The board was open for abut 20 minutes. When they tried this Wednesday, they got 50 dem votes. Today, the got 44 before giving up and closing the board.
