Governor Rick Snyder recently published a 22 page document called "Dollars and Sense: How State and Local Governments Spend Your Money." I believe this is the beginning of the era of transparency in Michigan state government. We have been calling for putting the checkbook online for about four years now. It looks like that is about to happen. Meanwhile, this document which you can read here, is one of the easiest to absorb and comprehend of any financial document about the state of our financial affairs that I have ever read.
Granted, the news is not good, but you can't figure out where you need to go if you don't know where you are. This document lays out our financial position very clearly. Kudos to the governor and his staff for giving it to us straight.
