Will Teacher Retirement Benefits Hurt Future Teacher Salaries in Michigan?

Gary Wolfram, the respected William E. Simon Professor in Economics and Public Policy at Hillsdale College has written an essay that addresses the high legacy costs in public education. It is not that fact that teachers receive benefits, its the type of benefit plan that they participate in. Read his essay from the Michigan View here. The question that must be asked is, do legislators in Michigan have the courage to act to fix the problem before more than 25% of payroll is absorbed by retirement costs?
